Would you please tell me what a false religion is?

And what is a true religion? What makes it true? Said who?

If three people from three different religions say that their religion is the true one, who is right? Or maybe they are all wrong?

I need all your wisdom to show me the truth.

Thanks for your enlightenment. Would you please tell me what a false religion is?
what makes it true isnt us, it is God

God is real, and there is only one, so it is important to choose corectly

the Bible is one third prophecy

and there are over 300 prophecies that came true in Jesus

Jesus is God in the flesh

any Religion that says you can get to God or heaven by yourself, or by what you do, without Jesus is false

Any religion that claims to have special knowledge, apart from the Bible is false

any religion that claims you dont need Jesus is false

you can only be saved by Faith in Christ alone, and the Bible is the absolute truth of GodWould you please tell me what a false religion is?
Any religion or lived philosophy that promotes hatred, fear, disunity, disharmony, ignorance, bigotry and violence and does harm to ones self and to any and all others is a ';false religion';.

Any religion that promotes peace, understanding, compassion, caring, generosity, harmony and unity among all peoples, tolerance, equality and thereby benefits both the individual and all others is a correct path to follow.

Each tree will be known by the fruit that it bears and whether that fruit nourishes those who eat it or poisons them.

Be well, be wise and be peace.

Edit:

Hello to this ones trolls!

Does the logic and reasoning of this statement illude you or do you adhere to one of the many ';religions'; that promote hatred, division, disunity, disharmony, etc., while causing harm to others and to the very practicioners of fiaths such as yours?

Smile, who do you fool but yourself?

Be wise and be well, if you cna and chose to do so.
There are many religions and no religion is wrong, and no religion is the true religion.

But when you talk to someone that follows a certain religion they will tell you it's the only true religion, which may be true for them, after all it's their religion.

You need to know what is right for you, You need to ask yourself some questions.

Do you believe what that religion teaches?

Does it make sense to you?

Is this a religion you would feel comfortable in?

You will know where you belong and what is right for you when you find it.

There is no one way path to God there are many paths to God.

Religions were formed to police and control the people prior to roles formerly assumed by politics and monarchies who passed laws to control the masses. Each religion was created upon the teachings of a great and wise mind to instil understanding into man, whilst implementing discipline and faith until emotional maturity and intellectual cognition is gained. That is their primary purpose, as paths of discipline towards a spiritual awakening and liberty. All religions are valid, rather it is their practioners and preachers who distort, falsify or are economical with the dispensations of sound principles. We judge religious competence by the congregations of each faith we meet, who are thereby ambassadors of their faith, creed and kind. We have formed a new found love for Portugal and Australia because they are your nations; I have no idea what religion if any you practice. It is wise to be mindful of this fact. Some Americans we love and have a respect for, others make us seethe and breed a deep hatred for what appears at times an ignorant and arrogant creed of subversives. God is wonderful when one we love sings his praises, he is a mean vindictive, and evil hypocrite if we were to take of the nonsense babbled by some of his praise singers. Life is like that.

I had a sense of my imminent death yesterday morning. I think it was something I wrote here. I am so possessed and had a wish to leave... I think to have fulfilled all ones vocation, roles and purpose is to die and depart peaceably. Live long in love and happiness JL.
First, acknowledge the true God. Look around at creation and see that God exists. God's existence is so prominent, but sometimes we get locked into the bubble of our own existence that that is all we see and God is just outside of your consciousness. After you acknowledge that He is, then just talk to Him. Tell Him how you feel and ask Him to open your heart and mind to the truth and to point you to the correct path. What God initially requires of us is not to believe in Him, but just to have an honest heart. If we have dishonest hearts He knows we will not listen to Him but if we true with no deception in our hearts and we really want to know Him, He will give more light so that you may know more. The one true religion can help you and point you in the right direction, but you will never really really know if it is true unless the one true God is more than a character on the pages on a book but He comes into the center of your being and reveals Himself to you. Once you come to Him and you drink and have fountains of living water flowing from within you, you will know you have found the truth and the truth will set you free. This is the work of God, that you believe the One He has sent.

P.S. By the way, if you get stuck at the ';acknowledging God'; part, well then, you can just tell God about that too. Again, the most important thing at this stage is just be honest. You may wonder what I mean by ';being honest';. What I mean is, examine yourself to see if you really ready and willing to see and know what God reveals to you. See there are many subtle reasons men do not want to know about God. This sort of people may put up this shield of cynicism because in their hearts, they want to maintain control over their own lives so they think if they can raise objections as to the existence of God, they can go on living life as they want. This tendency exists in all of us; to be the god of our own lives. However, as long as we cling to this, God will not be obvious to us. Indeed, our capacity for understanding what God would reveal to us is paralyzed. So, by being honest, what I mean is to examine yourself and make sure that you are not (consciously or subconsciously) willfully disbelieving in God. You must be a true seeker ready to lay down your arms and follow Him if He really reveals Himself to you. He can reveal Himself to you in a variety of ways. Sometimes He can surprise you with a sudden realization and you just ....know. He may use a person to tell you things to help you. He may use His Holy written word to shine light into your heart. It could be a dream or a vision or a still small voice that you hear not with your ears but with the deepest part of your soul.

I do not mean to imply that the whole process is entirely subjective. Different people have different obstacles before they can believe. If you are an intellectual with many logical questions, well there are many resources to help clear up those problems. Do a little research as to what ancient written work that claims to be the Word of God has the most reliable evidence that it has been accurately preserved and translated. I dont' think it will be hard for you to discover what it is. Discover the one man that reliable history records to have claimed to be God in human flesh and validated it by rising from the dead, who was seen by hundreds of witnesses after His death. Eleven of His closest followers who claimed to have seen, talked, and eaten with Him after He rose from the dead.....they were killed for bearing testimony that He had risen. They had a chance to recant what they were saying but they proved to prefer death over lying about this God-man who had died and came back to life. This is recorded history not some legend or myth. I tell you now, some men may die for a lie, but no man will die for that which he KNOWS is a lie and these men claimed to have walked and talked with Him after He died and they were brutally executed for it at various places and times. The evidences go on and I invite you to research. These evidences can help clear away intellectual problems you may have but you still must come to the point of making it an act of your will to accept, trust , rely on, and live for God. This can only be done through the only name given under heaven whereby a man must be saved; and that is the name of Jesus Christ! Please email if you are interested and would like to know more.
';False religion'; - says anyone of any religion other than their own.

To the one who said this:

';a true religion is christianity. because their is only one god and it is jesus christ. not the Buddha, or and any gods. because god is real. and he loves everyone.';

a true god is the Flying Spaghetti Monster. because their is only one Flying Spaghetti Monster and it is the one His Noodly Appendage is linked to, not God or anyone else. because the Flying Spaghetti Monster is real. and he loves everyone.

I think that made as much sense to you as your statement about god made to me.
The closer that a religion can help you get to God, the better it is. The more that a religion diverges from the truth and God's standards, the worse it is. You won't be able to trust anyone where the fate of your soul is concerned; the stakes are too high. Take the testimonies people give you for what they are worth, but nothing will suffice except making a scientific experiment for yourself. (Reaching out in humble prayer, etc.)

How can I show you the truth?

There is an old adage Get three together have 4 opinions. (adapted)

All I believe is that life human existence seems to be a continuing revelation. I don`t know who you are, but I must believe we have common experience. There is a God and we are all `programmed` to worship, what nature is It?

The guidelines I `spose is the scriptures but wait, not the Torah or Bible why have an outdated manual when later editions will do.

Qu`ran for me answers the questions I need to fulfill my spiritual needs.

I know this is inadequate as an answer, but best I can do right now!

This is one of those questions that everyone will think he has the right answer to. Without even reading the answers I can predict the two most common answers will be:

1. Any religion except my own is a false religion

and

2. ALL religions are false religions.

But, again without reading any of the other answers, I would bet you that my answer will be unique.

Some religions (by no means ALL of them) believe that their own beliefs are the only correct ones, and that anyone believing something different therefore must be wrong, at least, perhaps evil. It's just an easy idea to sell to people that OUR beliefs are the only TRUE ones, and God loves us better and all that.

Militant atheists will say ANY religion is wrong. And from their point of view they're right, but atheists don't have the right to judge religions for the same reason a vegetarian has no right to tell you how your steak should be done.

A false religion is one that doesn't live up to its promises. If a religion preaches one kind of morality but practices a different kind, that's a false religion. This includes religions that exist for political purposes, religions that follow a leader who gets rich and powerful and famous, and various toxic cults that just destroy people or exploit them.

For instance, people who purport to follow Jesus, well that's just fine. There is very little that I can find in Jesus' actual teachings that I can disagree with. BUT if they believe that Jesus hated poor people and thought that the rich shouldn't have to pay taxes, then that's a false religion. If they believe Pat Robertson has some special insight into the Will of God and is nobler and wiser than normal mortals, that is a false religion. Islam is a good religion but Muslims who believe it is their religious duty to kill others (and themselves), that's a false religion. Any religion that gets people to support unnecessary wars of aggression, that's a false religion. Or to believe in racial discrimination. Or genocide or any kind of intolerance.

Paul even said it himself. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. A good tree can't bear bad fruit. I'm sure there are principles like this in all (or most) religions. You can use them as a meter to judge the truth and effectiveness of religions anywhere.
.

If it has the word ';religion'; attached to it, than there's a higher chance that it's ';false';.

While I do believe in the One Light (God) and Jesus Christ I don't go for the ';religious'; stuff. I'm simply spiritual, non-denominational as I've often seen the non consistency and behavior to be an ';insult'; to how ';religion'; reflects the authentic original message and teachings of the One Light (God) and Jesus Christ to be.

Have seen much behavior of ';hypocrites'; in the environment of ';religion';.

I feel that a ';false religion'; are those which . . .

MInisters one thing yet does not live it throughout the week.

Those who behave as hypocrites.

Those who ';contort'; the original message of the One Light (God) and Jesus Christ.

Those who do good for the sake of the act.

Those who perform good deeds with awareness, and hopes, that others are seeing them carry out that good deed.

Those who encourage their group to donate or gather more during one time of the year over any other time of the year.

Putting money in offering plate in form of check rather than cash because the person is aware that the church keeps track of from who and the amount of money given when money was offered in form of check. (Something I learned form a friend recently).

To me that is behavior of hypocritical . . . false ';religion';.

The One Light (God) is Love. Live authentic Love . . . that's the True and core message of the One Light (God) and Jesus Christ as well as other great ';teachers'; i.e. Buddha, Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Prophets.

I've yet to see any religion that lives and holds to teachings of authentic Love.

.
A false religion is a religion that leads a person to eternal separation from God. I thank God that He sent His Son, Jesus, to be the only hope and the only way.
a true religion is christianity. because their is only one god and it is jesus christ. not the Buddha, or and any gods. because god is real. and he loves everyone.
ANY 'religion' that denies The Holy Deity of Jesus Christ! (The Father also said, ';If you do not accept My Son, you do not accept ME!';) John 14:6. All the 'rest' out there are just trying to sell you something! %26lt;')))%26gt;%26lt;
I see someone answered the way I am going to:

A ';false religion'; is all the religions that aren't the one you believe in.

And that's it.
all religions are of necessity false because they are the product of our own false longing

the only true religion is no religion

the only true God is the Absent God

none of this stops us worshipping the Universe
The common reaction is ';any religion that is not mine.';

Since I'm an atheist, every box on the scorecard is checked off. Theobingo! I win! :D
the true religion is the one that a believer thinks is the only one.
That's an easy yet complicated question. The easy yet complicated answer would be to follow the one that YOU think is the correct one. Hope this helps in an odd way.

Most people who use the phrase would say any religion beside their own is a

false religion.
atheism, with their false prophets- darwin, dawkins et al, who deceive the people against God
All of them are false in that are were invented by men.
nothing is true

nothing is false

we made them so.
All religions are wrong.
a religion that's not based on truth
A false religion is one that does not follow the truth of God.
It's all just a person's opinion.
god is the truth and thats all i can say
they are all fake, but many of them have some value in spite of this
It's simple enough. A false religion is any religion that you don't happen to believe in. A true religion is the religion you believe.

Since religion is subjective, and evidence is irrelevant, everybody is allowed to make their own rules.
No one honestly knows that answer who are we to judge what is false or not! We can only hope.... We cannot know but we can strongly believe!
