Can taking a pregnancy test during your period cause a false positive?

I search the web which indicate that blood can result in a false positive on the pregnancy test. I took a pregnancy test at the end of my period (still small amt of blood). Anyone have any information on this subject. Could my pregnancy test be a false positive? I will take the test again when my period is completely over. Can taking a pregnancy test during your period cause a false positive?
you can take a pregnancy test while on your period as long as it's not a heavy flow. The only way for a pregnancy test to be positive is if there is the pregnancy hormone in your system. The only way to have that hormone is to be pregnant, so it would be very unlikely to get a positive if not prego. The test could just be a dud though and perhaps that caused it. Take another and see what the result is. if its positive, then you are defiantly preggers!!Can taking a pregnancy test during your period cause a false positive?
Thank you. The HPT test was positive twice. I went to the doctor's office and got a blood test. The result was negative... so I can't explain it but I'm not pregnant.

wait until you miss your period then test
no you can take a pregnancy test while you are on your period. the blood does not effect the test. Its how much hcg is in your body at the time. Good luck .
Yes having your period can create a false positive....some medications, some diseases and too much blood in the urine can cause a false positive.....take another one when its gone...Good Luck!
As everyone told me, it's hard to get a false positive on a pregnancy test, so you're probably pregnant. Was your period any different that it usually is? It was probably implantation bleeding (embryo connecting to uterine wall.) Best wishes!
It is extremely rare to get a false positive. I'd test again but I think you are pregnant if the test showed a positive.
What did the pregnancy test say? Positive?

I think most people will laugh at this question, since normally, if you have your period, you are not pregnant.

But, if you got a positive pregnancy test, I would go to the doctor. The bleeding could have been a light period (common in early pregnancy) or you could have implantation bleeding, or you could be miscarrying.
